Facebook messages appear to add weight to a Northern Territory politician's claim he was in a relationship with a woman he sent lewd videos to.
Nathan Barrett resigned on Saturday after the video was leaked to the media.
Mr Barrett says he had a brief affair with the woman.
He claims the pair set up fake online profiles so they could communicate in secret on Facebook.
The CLP took the unusual step of leaking against itself in a bid to support its former minister.
Mr Barrett says he assumed the online alias Steven James and the woman was known as Kendra Morris.
Mr Barrett has engaged lawyers who have released the messages which, if genuine, add weight to his claims he was in a consensual relationship with the woman.
On Valentine's Day, Kendra wrote:"You're so sexy Steven ... I can't wait to get hold of you."
He then invited her to "come and get some."
Kendra then respond "be careful what you wish for."
Later that evening she posted: "I had a great Valentine's with you. Thanks. Xo"
The exchange occurred in the weeks before Mr Barrett sent the videos that ended his political career.
He claims there are more messages sent between the pair
The CLP has hired data retrieval specialists to try to access the messages.
Chief Minister Adam Giles dumped Mr Barrett from Cabinet the morning the scandal broke.
But the Government has since claimed Mr Barrett is the victim of revenge porn.
"Revenge porn is Something that is an issue right across Australia," Mr Giles said.
The CLP has called on Labor to come clean over its role how the video was made public after the woman was pictured at campaign events with Labor candidate Damian Hale.
Labor has denied any involvement in leaking the video.
The CLP now faces a tough ask to hold Mr Barrett's seat of Blain, one of the seats expected to be crucial to the outcome the election on August 27.
Mr Barrett has announced he will not be standing.
His replacement is expected to be announced soon.
