"Males marginalised to the Role of "Potential Perpetrator"
One of the things that gets me about rumour spread is that no one questions the rumour spreader. With “What do you mean by that?”
Empirically I know participants are recruited easily and even though I live a long way from #brunswick the rumour has started again.
To say I walk around Brunswick is not just a rumour but a lie. For instance the neighbours say it in the present tense “he walks around Brunswick.” The guy next door seems to feel incredibly cheated by life that he lives next door to “the guy who walks around Brunswick.”
When I lived in Carnarvon Street near the corner of Blyth Street, Brunswick in 2013 I didn’t “walk around” I walked to the shops, to the bus, the tram, for exercise.
I didn’t feel comfortable in high-density and I left Brunswick in September 2013. It was only after I left Brunswick that I heard the rumour. I have had “technical #homelessness” as a consequence of bullying and a dispute over the family will. So I have lived in a few share-houses since 2013.
Neighbours have hysterically rumour-spread in Abbotsford, Nth Balwyn, Blackburn, Glen Waverley that I walk around Brunswick and where I am now even further from Inner City Melbourne.
The rumour is never raised with me. I overhear them go on and on and on. I am totally bewildered by this rumour spread madness. And how simple it is to denounce someone.
Women at #ChirnsideParkShoppingCentre spread the rumour! In the present tense. “he walks around Brunswick” There’s not even a “ohh he’s given that up now” Any walking I have ever done has been legitimate and without any sinister intent, but now predominantly female strangers have the power to denounce my reputation and question my presence anywhere such is the climate of fear in Melbourne.
I used to love walking. I ran a walk group in Kingston. Now I’m just about agoraphobic. Can’t go anywhere without a projection of fear and people who see it as their civic duty to spread the rumour.
