Elderly man in hospital after dog attack

AN elderly man is in hospital after a vicious dog attack in Melbourne's northwest.
The animal, believed to be a terrier cross, pounced on the victim in Raleigh Rd, Westmeadows, at noon.
The man, aged his 80s suffered injuries to his arm, an Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said.
He was taken by ambulance to the North Hospital in Epping.
The dog, which was caught still bearing blood from the incident, has been impounded and its future is unclear.
