Learner caught at 160km/h in packed car

A LEARNER driver has had his car impounded after allegedly driving at 160km/h in Melbourne's south-west last night.

Police spotted the car at the intersection of Derrimut and Heaths Rds in Hoppers Crossing at 10.15pm, before it sped off quickly.
The car was clocked at 150km/h in a 70km/h zone before it reached an estimated 160km/h.
When police pulled the car over they found the driver, a 20-year-old Sunshine North man, only held a learner's permit.
He was carrying four passengers aged 17-19.
The car was impounded for 30 days and the man is expected to be charged on summons with speeding, license and traffic-related offences.
