Bus Schoolbus Seatbelts Schoolkids Country Vic NSW ACRS Herald Sun

Restrain the kids

WE have known for a long time that seatbelts save lives and yet we still allow schoolchildren in the two most populous Australian states to go unrestrained in buses on high-speed country roads.

A recent report by a Bus Safety Community Advisory Committee recommends that we start fitting new and replacement country school buses with seatbelts as they come into service. Children rely on us for their safety. Better to act now than to react to a catastrophic event in the future.
