A cyclist has died after losing control of his bike in Vermont last night.
The 62-year-old Chadstone man was riding along Canterbury Road around 10pm when he fell near Adele Street, police said.
An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said the man sustained a critical head injury and was unconscious when paramedics arrived.
He was treated at the scene for 40 minutes and was taken to Alfred Hospital in a critical condition. He died at the hospital at around 7.30 this morning, police said.
Ambulance Victoria said the man was wearing a helmet and police confirmed he was not hit by a car.
It is believed a witness called the ambulance.
Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
